CGNEE acquired the wind power project of 230MW in Ireland and United Kingdom Northern Ireland

On December the 7th, CGN Europe Energy signed the SPA with Gaelectric in Dublin, which completed the acquisition of the wind power project Douvan with the installed capacity of 230 MW. Mr. Yue Xiaoyong, the Ambassador of People's Republic of China in Ireland and Mr. Eoghan Murphy, the vice Minister of Finance of Ireland attended the signing ceremony.
The acquisition of the project marks another major achievement of CGNEE, following to winning the bid for the offshore floating wind power project of France, the acquisition of the largest wind farm of Belgium and the acquisition of the solar energy project of Senegal. So far, the investement is the largest investement project of Chinese enterprises in Ireland, which demonstrated a breakthrough of cooperation between two countries in the field of renewable energy.
The project is located in Ireland and Northern Ireland of UK,consisted of 10 wind farms in operation and 4 wind farms under construction, with the total installed capacity of 230MW.
Mr. Lu Wei, the general manager of CGNEE indicated that the project can meet the electricity needs of 120,000 famillies with an annual reduction of carbon dioxide emissions of 250,000 tons. The process of winning the bid is very fierce, as a number of investment institutions from United States, Germany, Britain and other countries have involved in the competition.The entry into the wind power market of Ireland and the UK Northern Ireland will also enhance the reputation of CGN Europe Energy as an international clean energy company in the British Isles.
Barry Gavin, the CEO of company Gaelectric said that he hopes to form a long-term partnership with CGNEE through this trade to develop and invest together the wind, solar and compressed air energy storage project of approximated 1GW.
